“Our goal is not to condemn the instigators of the violence.
We know that our enemies are not people; they are greed, hatred and ignorance.”

- Thich Nhat Hanh and the Plum Village Sangha

Dear friends,

Many of you are aware of the situation of Bat Nha monastery in Vietnam – young, peaceful Buddhist monks and nuns have been subjected to persecution, intimidation and attacks from the Vietnamese government and at the moment are in great need of support.

This Sunday, October 4th, groups from around the world will be participating in a day of support, solidarity and meditation, called “Don’t just do something, sit there!”.

You are invited to join us in Jerusalem at 18.00 for meditation. We will meet in the square outside the Cinematheque and walk down to the Sultan’s Pool.

By breathing mindfully, feeling the earth beneath us and the outdoor air in our lungs, not only will our presence as a group support the monks and nuns, but we will also nourish the seeds of peace in ourselves and our society.

Those unable to attend are requested to sit on their own or with friends, together in spirit with the worldwide community.

The Plum Village community has asked everyone to wear a small piece of yellow cloth on their left shoulder, a symbol of the ceremonial monastic robe. Any photos (1000 x 1500 px) can be sent to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
