Helga and Karl Riedl
Helga Riedl (True Loving Kindness) and Karl Riedl (True Communion) were ordained as Dharma teachers by Thich Nhat Hanh in 1994. They began their spiritual journey thirty years ago in Poona, India. Over the years, they continued to study and practice with various Buddhist teachers, from 1985 in the Zen tradition. They met Thich Nhat Hanh in 1992 and followed him to Plum Village, where they lived and practiced for six years. In 1998 Karl & Helga together with Karl Schmidt established Intersein-Zentrum in Germany, a practice center in the spirit of Thich Nhat Hanh, which they facilitate together with a core community and long-term residents. They are deeply committed to the process of building spiritual communities and to helping people in their personal and interpersonal spiritual growth.

Thich Nhat Hanh
Thich Nhat Hanh (called Thây by his students) is one of the most respected and beloved Zen masters in the world today. Born in central Vietnam in 1926 he became a monk at the age of sixteen. During the Vietnam War, Thich Nhat Hanh helped found the "engaged Buddhism" movement, helping the villagers suffering under the war. His life has since been dedicated to the work of inner transformation for the benefit of individuals and society. He was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. In 1982 Thich Nhat Hanh founded the meditation center Plum Village in southern France where he holds meditation retreats, gardens and has written over 80 books in which he shares his insights and the fruits of his personal practice. He makes the practice of mindfulness - being fully aware and living consciously in the present moment - accessible and relevant to our daily lives. "He shows us the connection between personal, inner peace and peace on earth" – His Holiness, the Dalai Lama.
