Continuing the Wake Up tradition of coming together joyfully, creatively, and living deeply in such a way that we're really true to ourselves, we've titled the retreat "Truly Alive"!
Together, we will learn and practice mindfulness. Mindfulness is the art of living fully the present moment, so that we can recognize and appreciate the conditions of happiness that are already available, and be able to take good care of our difficulties. We will learn to relax, to listen to ourselves and to take the good decisions in our lives. We will practice mindfulness in sitting, walking, while lying down, eating, working, running, sleeping, on our hands, on our head…. We will discuss our life’s aspirations and challenges in the sharing groups. We will have workshops to discover and express our creativity.
For more information on WakeUp and the retreat, see the website wkup.org.
Young men will camp in Upper Hamlet with the monastic brothers; young women will camp in Middle Hamlet with the monastic sisters. Please bring your tent and bedding (including mattress and pillow). Registration instructions are on the registration form. The cost of the retreat is 120 euros: 30 euros when registering and the rest can be paid on arrival.
We've been invited by the participants from Italy to join them in traveling from Rome to Plum Village (and back), by bus or air, and to be hosted in Rome for the day before/after the retreat. In order to organize this, it's necessary to contact the organizers before 7 July. Accompanying the participants on the journey will be three adult Sangha members.
